Go Glow nightlight review – new travel nightlight
Ah toddlers. Just when you think you’re getting the hang of at least a few bits of parenting, they prove to you just how wrong you are.
After those early broken baby nights, Minnie has slept relatively well. Naps are another struggle, but from with our bath, book and bed routine in place, we could at least count on some fairly sound sleep overnight. Even jetlag affected her less than I’d feared.

Who knows what changed. Suddenly we were back to wailing in the early hours, pleas to leave the door open as she slept, sobs if we didn’t sit with her as she dozed off (into the kind of light sleep where an ant twitching 20 miles away would wake her bolt upright again, let alone a squeaky floorboard).
So, in between repeating ‘it’s a phase, it’s a phase’ (I say this a lot), I broke out the rabbits.
My old rabbit nightlight to be precise. A ceramic mushroom-type affair with tiny china rabbits and a mini bulb inside. She loved the idea of the bunnies watching over her as she slept, I loved the nostalgia of her enjoying a piece of my childhood.
But while I can live with it not being the most toddler-friendly of night lights, it’s very definitely not travel friendly. Bulky, heavy, fragile – I wasn’t convinced about even transporting it around the UK, let alone in a suitcase.
At which point Go Glow got in touch to ask if we wanted to review its light, a nightlight and torch in one.
The range has a string of TV and movies characters – everyone from Thomas the Tank Engine and Fireman Sam to Toy Story over the years, even Olaf from Frozen – but also some options which aren’t character branded.
And as owls are a bit of a favourite, that’s what we went for with the Twit Twoo light to try for our Go Glow nightlight review.
A multitasking toddler nightlight
It’s a clever product. Very very simple to use, the torch sits in a charging base and becomes a nightlight as it’s ‘docked’. Pressing it down once turns it on, down again turns it off – even a two-year-old can pick that up in seconds.
The soft white light is also enough to illuminate any monsters under the bed (which I’m assuming is behind the recent upsets) but not so bright as to keep her awake. And if you need a torch in the small hours – or for older children, if they need one to help find a potty or bathroom – it just lifts out.
Currently Minnie has to be dissuaded from shining it in her own eyes, but having a handy torch could come in very useful stumbling around dark hotel rooms.
While ours stays plugged in at home, once it’s fully charged the night light should run for 20 hours and the torch for four, useful if you’ve temporarily lost your adapter overseas. Not that I do that too often.
Compared to the rabbits, it’s also lighter, less breakable and more compact to pop into a suitcase as well, just in case of any foreign monsters.
Reviewing the Go Glow Night Light
But which won out for Minnie? Well, she loves being able to play with the Go Glow light as she’s banned from fiddling with the rabbits.
So which do we have on at home? Of course, you’ve guessed that. Both.
For now, we have the owls and the rabbits (plus a Gro Clock, more of which later) shining through the night. Although frankly, for a good night’s sleep, I’d welcome a Disney parade of woodland creatures…
