Villages Nature® Paris – the newest taste of family-friendly France
Out under the trees, the sun glinting on the water of the lake, you’d hardly believe that two of Europe’s biggest tourist destinations are just a short journey away.
But Villages Nature® Paris isn’t your average family holiday resort either, instead it’s a collection of five immersive ‘worlds’ where you can escape, explore and entertain everyone.
A collaboration between Euro Disney and Center Parcs, the new accommodation is just 10 minutes’ away from Disneyland® Paris, and around 20 miles from Paris itself. That’s if you want to leave, of course, between the activities and the amusements on offer.
At the heart is the incredible Aqualagon, one of the largest covered water parks in Europe with 9,000 metres squared of water running through, all panelled in glass. Natural geothermal energy keeps the water enticingly warm, part of a sustainable and eco-friendly approach, with seven giant waterslides plus a wave pool and adventure river.
There are paddling pools and a splash pad just for kids – and for adults, a spa with sauna, hammam and salt room.
Perhaps the only way my own water baby would be tempted out is with a visit to the BelleVie Farm; home to farm animals, and inspired by the area’s traditional farms, there are activities from breadmaking to beekeeping along with the chance to see the furry inhabitants.
Or explore acres of garden and woodlands. The well-named Extraordinary Gardens stretch for over five acres, with four different sections inspired by the elements – a vegetable garden and fruit in the Earth Garden, bright maples and cherry trees in Fire, the gentle swoosh of weeping willows and swaying grasses in the Air Garden, and the Water garden’s musical tinkling water features.
Take a family treasure hunt, follow the discovery trail or join a nighttime musical gathering around the fire.
Even more enchanting is the Forest of Legends, aimed at children aged two to 12, and full of fairytales and magic. Play areas are tucked among the trees, while hiding places and hanging nests are the perfect inspiration for games and stories galore.
There are all the advantages of civilisation though, with food and shops in the Lakeside promenade, including cookery courses and wine tasting (to offset the aqua jump and canopy zipwire for the more adventurous).
And at last, to bed – in one of 916 cottages and apartments, each with a fully equipped kitchen, baby beds and high chairs and free WiFi. Lounge in style in the elegant Cocoon VIP accommodation, with velvet and faux fur décor alongside the soothing natural wood.
Or the Country Premium retreats are inspired by the best of the English countryside, from flower prints to bright colours, and a honeycomb theme in the children’s rooms, while painted feathers float down the walls of Clan Comfort, the most vibrant choice for a stay that’s as fun as it is memorable.
Mickey and the Eiffel Tower might be on the doorstep… but suddenly they’ve got stiff competition.
