Rain, rain go away? Kids’ waterproofs from Muddy Puddles

I quite often pick up Minnie’s clothes in advance, when I spot something lovely or find a great sale, so there’s a stash of 12-18 month (and bigger) items tucked away to rediscover. The only trick is remembering to buy things appropriate for the season she’ll be wearing them in.

The drawback to that is that while she’s got some lovely things for the sunshine (like this fab floaty embroidered cotton top from Monsoon), she’s a bit short of anything to cope with the rain. Which means we were fine yesterday, and frantically trying to find something to combat the torrential downpour this morning.

While I’d like to hope it won’t rain again until September, even my natural optimism is struggling to believe that. But with rather perfect timing, I’ve just come across Muddy Puddles with their fun kids’ waterproofs and children’s wellies.

muddy-puddles-girls-spotty-raincoatThe PuddlePac jacket, £20, folds into a pocket, which is great for stashing it away between storm clouds or for older kids on school trips – with six designs for boys and girls, I’m eyeing up the Hollyhock design. The range goes up to a size 11-12, although the smallest option is 18-24 months so Minnie has a bit more growing to do.

In the meantime, the Flutterby jacket, currently marked down to £25, is waterproof but breathable and starts from 1-2 years.

Bargain of the day has to be the red and white polkadot Puddleflex mac at a mere £8 in the sale – only in 18-24 months although the similar Heart and Soul version is still available for 5 to 6-year-olds.

The range also includes everything from ski jackets to Peppa Pig ponchos to T-shirts, thermals and waterproof trousers – and some very funky kids’ wellies.

But as Minnie can’t actually stand up without support for now, I shall have to restrain myself and wait just a bit longer before I start stocking up on those.
