Computer says yes… hopefully

Posted by mummytravels

It’s probably a lesson not to leave things until the last minute (in passport terms anyway). With a month to go before the first trip, I finally managed to satisfy the Post Office – and therefore hopefully the Passport Office as well – that I’d filled in Minnie’s application correctly.

Finally getting the paperwork sorted

I’d ended up sending two forms back to my countersignatory after we’d gone outside the boxes by several millimetres the first time round (the horror), and with both of us using our neatest handwriting, it got the OK. This time the computer would accept it.

After producing a special sheet to measure the passport photos, querying whether I wanted the birth certificate (which I’d remembered too) sending back by 2nd class post or secure delivery, and confirming a few other details, I handed over my debit card to splash out around £57, including all the extras.

But it was only once I’d been given the receipt and reference number that I realised I’d been half holding my breath, convinced we’d get some other tiny aspect wrong and have to go through the whole process again. It should now be two to three weeks until Minnie’s first passport arrives, with just enough time to spare.

Otherwise, I shall have to start planning a sit-in at Petty France…
