Sainsbury’s baby sleepsuits – reviewed
Back in what already feels like the distant past, when I was pregnant, my lovely mother-in-law told me her top tip for baby clothes – not designer (thankfully), not one of the better known baby shops, not even Marks & Spencer or John Lewis, two of her favourites. Instead, her go-to store is Sainsbury’s.
And it seems she’s not alone in thinking this, as the supermarket sells over 4,000 baby sleepsuits every day from the TU at Sainsbury’s range, some of which have been worn by Minnie’s older cousin. And after being sent two to review, I’m a convert as well.
There’s lots of nice touches like seam-free feet so little toes can’t get caught in loose threads, built-in scratch mitts on the newborn versions – very useful for Minnie whose nails seem ultrasharp and to grow very rapidly after we brave the clippers and nail file – while versions for older babies have non-slip feet.
But one of the simplest and biggest selling points is how soft the cotton is. Baby skin is so sensitive, that it’s easily irritated, but these really are gorgeously soft, even after they’ve been washed repeatedly and attacked with stain remover.
There’s a range of colours, although the simple white ones (which have a little star or bear decoration) are perfect if you want something neutral.
As Minnie weighed under the average when she arrived, they slightly swamped her to start with, but unlike some shops which seem to have unusually big or small sizing, these seem pretty good for fitting the age range they’re supposed to.
Best of all? A pack of three starts from £11.
