Toddling off on holiday
Speak to any parent and you’ll get endless advice on what the essential baby paraphernalia is – along with what you can happily live without. Sadly, usually completely contradictory. So far I’ve had everything from moses baskets to swaddle blankets and baby baths picked out as vital and worthless.
When you start throwing travel equipment into the mix, I suspect it’s very easy to very quickly spend a lot of money that you don’t need to.
So I like the idea of ToddleOff.co.uk, which focuses on kit to help you ‘get out and about with your baby’, whether that’s short trips or family holidays. Of course, not every brand is stocked on the site, but there’s a useful array of options broken down by category, including slings, carriers and buggy accessories, as well as sleep options from travel cots to blackout blinds.
Throw in a travel bath, DEET-free mosquito repellent bands, some great change and travel bags (which aren’t too horrendously expensive) and travel highchairs, and there’s useful suggestions for most travel dilemmas.
I haven’t tested or reviewed anything personally, and there are a few products which I already feel a bit dubious about – an £18 baby burping mitten stands out – but for a travel-focused starting point, it’s a great idea.
