Finding the flash sale baby bargains
Given the vast quantity of stuff we’ve begged, borrowed and bought, even before the baby’s even born, I’ve got both eyes well and truly open for a bargain at the moment. And with my thoughts turning ahead to trips with the mini traveller as soon as I can book something (and organise a passport), I’m already pondering what paraphernalia will multitask both here and abroad.
So I’m planning to keep a very close eye on new website Casabu. Flash sales websites, where there’s major discounts for a short period or if a certain number of buyers agree to purchase, have been getting bigger and bigger over the past few years.
But although designer fashion, travel and cut-price experiences are all over the place, it’s surprising that hardly anyone’s thought to do a baby version – although Bounty runs its own and Vente Privee seems to have a children’s clothing section (although I doubt even Vente Privee’s bargains are quite within my budget).
There’s a limited number of sales up at the moment, but that includes some very cute things – I was seduced by a By Carla Play Time sleeping bag for £10, far less than even most sale versions in the shops. It is a 1-tog version but with summer (hopefully) not too far away, my plots to go to hot places as soon as I can, and most of my friends hugely recommending the all-in-one sleeping bags, it seemed worth it.
And there’s up to 50% off toys, some very girly dresses from Feu Follet and baby rockers, plus they’re planning to list Skipper Balance Vespa Scooters for £45 (50% off the usual £90) from June 30 – although that’s not quite on my shopping list yet.
For an added incentive, there’s an extra £5 off first orders using this voucher code – Casabu25055 – which brought my sleeping bag price tag down even more. Let’s hope they feature travel cots before too long…

Sleeping bags are fab for babies at 2-3 months old. Until that age both ours liked to be swaddled. Which leads me nicely into… The magic swaddle blanket we got in mothercare. Awesome!

Quite a few friends have recommended the sleep bags so have a few lined up – and some swaddle blankets to see if the baby approves (all loan/gifts as this seems to be a love/hate thing)
